Get a retro look that's genuine
Text and photos by Helen Travis

Sherry King says she's always liked the comfort of clutter. One look around her store, YesterDaze, and you believe her.

Not a square foot is devoid of vintage and used clothes or furniture. King grew up in a household where everything had its place, as mandated by her clutter-phobic mother. Now King can collect all the random goods she wants, and she doesn't have to answer to Mommy.

King collects garb from the Victorian era onward to the 1980s. She combs estate sales looking for rarities. Unlike some thrift shops, all of Yesterdaze's goods are authentic. King promises that if you go out wearing something from her store, you will not encounter a soul with the same outfit.

The colorful store is a bright spot on the sometimes-dreary Florida Avenue. King used to run a store in South Tampa, but two years ago moved to Seminole Heights. She takes pride in her new location and is an advocate for the neighborhood. - Text and photos by Helen Travis
