A fun walk and vegan potluck picnic will raise awareness at the Walk for Farm Animals at 11 a.m. Saturday (9/2) in Vinoy Park, Fifth Avenue NE at Bayshore Drive in downtown St. Petersburg. The $10 participant fee benefits the Farm Sanctuary, a rescue and protection organization that promotes humane farming practices for cows, sheep, pigs, chickens and others. The Botanical Gardens at the University of South Florida hosts the annual sale of the Central Florida Cactus and Succulent Society. Club Code in Ybor City is hosting a Back to School bash Friday (9/1) for all returning college students in the bay area. DJ Prophet will be spinning hip-hop and reggaeton tunes with special guest "Uncle Luke," better known as Luther Campbell, the leader of the rap outfit 2 Live Crew. These days Campbell has solo albums and a burgeoning porn business, but he is still drawing crowds. This is your last chance - and they really mean it this time - to see the posed cadavers of the "Bodies" exhibit at the Museum of Science and Industry. The display of 20 fully preserved and posed specimens, plus 260 organs and body parts, has drawn more than 450,000 people, but it finally closes Monday (9/4), more than a year after it opened to much hoopla and controversy.
