Art reception and oxygen Soak in the art on exhibit and take a breather at the ExtraordinAir Oxygen Bar and Gallery, 2481 McMullen Booth Road in Clearwater. There will be a reception at 7:30 p.m. Friday (9/8) for local contemporary artists Boo Ehrsam, Bettina Schott, Brandy Stark and Marlene Tenorio. Bucs fans will charge the Channelside district Friday (9/8) for the Official Bucs Season Kickoff Party, starting at 7 p.m. The free event will feature Bucs players, cheerleaders and a concert by indie rock singer songwriter Edwin McCain (I’ll Be).

Shuffle off into space with the hipsters at St. Pete Shuffle on Friday (9/8) when they celebrate Star Trek’s 40th Anniversary with a William Shatner retrospective. As the players knock out shuffleboard opponents, the speakers will be booming with Shatner and Leonard Nimoy covers of Mr. Tambourine Man, If I Had a Hammer and Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds. Other space-themed music will include Pink Floyd, David Bowie, and Harry Nilsson. Artist Frank Strunk III shows off his “industrial chic” collection of wearable art, such as metal ties and welded purses in a show dubbed Fashionable Hard Wear at Cafe Alma, 260 First Ave. S in downtown St. Petersburg. The show opens at 9 p.m. Saturday (9/9) and the exhibit will be on display through Nov. 10.

Local 9/11 remembrance events include a motorcycle ride, a walk for veterans and a moving play. The Harley-Davidson Remembrance Ride will be Saturday (9/9), departing at 11 a.m. from Harley-Davidson/Buell of Brandon and returning around 12:30 p.m. A post-ride ceremony will have live music by Bullshot. There’s a $15 ride fee. Wine lovers can find like minds in a surreal setting at Z-Grapes on Friday (9/8) at 7 p.m. This is the fun-loving Zodiac Group’s annual fundraiser for the Salvador Dali Museum with wine tasting, hors d’oeuvres, tours of the museum and entertainment. Under the direction of Rebecca Steele, the Bethune-Cookman College Concert Chorale is coming to South Tampa on Sunday (9/10). With more than 100 members, the chorale is Bethune-Cookman’s premiere performing group and has traveled throughout the United States and five foreign countries.
